On May 16th, the Centers for Disease Control held a talk in Second Life about Swine Flu and the use of digital media as an educational tool.  We were there to capture footage and create a film that documented the talk.

Lawrence Pintak, Director of the Kamal Adham Center for Journalism Training and Research, Journalist and former CBS Middle East Correspondent summed it up with this statement -

"Here in Cairo, the government has ordered that every single pig be killed. That’s something the WHO and other experts oppose. So we thought it appropriate to use this unique virtual bridge to allow our group here in Cairo – and bloggers participating in this event around the world – to learn a little more about how to get to the truth about the disease in order to better educate their audiences."

Produced in collaboration with Dancing Ink Productions, this machinima video shows the highlights of the event.
